Traveler information for Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties

What is 511?

Over the past decade, communities all over the United States have installed one-stop traveler information systems that allow people to take control of their journeys and get personalized transportation information when, where and how they want to receive it.

Typically, travelers get updated information by going online or by calling 511 from a cell or land line phone. Personalized traffic information can also be delivered via email, smart phone app or mobile computing device.

In the Monterey Bay Area, local transportation planning agencies — the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) and the Transportation Agency for Monterey County (TAMC) — have teamed up to study the feasibility and requirements to implement a 511 traveler information service in our area.
